The Theme of APP 2026

Organising the Amsterdam Policy Prize 2026 has been one of the highlights of European Horizons Amsterdam this year.

After months of preparation, it was incredibly rewarding to see everything come together: 52 motivated students working on one of the most pressing challenges of our time: building a trustworthy approach to AI policy.
AI governance is still evolving, and spaces like the Amsterdam Policy Prize are important because they allow students to engage directly with complex policy questions, collaborate across disciplines, and develop concrete proposals for the future.

A big thank you to the entire organising committee  - Anais Estelle Glauser, Jiske Bakker, Sara Gennaro, Julia Benestad Strande, Philip Ellermeier, and Britt Zeegers - whose dedication and teamwork made this edition possible.
We were also fortunate to be joined by fantastic guest speakers and judges  - Anil Tahmisoglu, Jonne Weijland, Roderick Lucas, Hanna Schmidt, Jasper Kars, Kaan S., Samar Hashemi, Tom Meinderts, and Tom Scheer - who brought valuable insights and thoughtful feedback to the competition.

Finally, congratulations to all participants. The creativity, dedication, and policy ideas presented throughout the competition were truly impressive. We excited to see how many of you will shape the future of AI policy.
Already looking forward to the next edition!

A special thanks as well to the European Horizons Amsterdam board for their support and collaboration throughout the process.

ABOUT AMSTERDAM POLICY PRIZE

2021 - The first "APP"

On the Saturday 24th April and Saturday 1st May, the first APP was hosted; a prestigious policy competition where several student associations will come together to compete against each other. The policy competition aims to foster connections of student associations across Amsterdam and will allow for students to present their talents. Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills in public speaking and learn more about policy making, namely on a hand-picked, yearly theme.
