The Winners of the 2024 Amsterdam Policy Prize

Congratulations to the fourth successful EU policy proposal competition held by European Horizons Amsterdam Chapter - Amsterdam Policy Prize 2024! The days long event was concluded with new friendships, enhancement of academic skills. We are proud to announce the top three best policy proposals on the topic "A Look Towards the East". This years participants had the opportunity to choose between two tracks, either submitting policy proposals adressing EU accession expansion and reform or EU-Russia relations in the aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Coming in third place is the proposal by Gu-Hai Tsai that shared some captivating remarks on how to balance between EU expansion and internal reform. Click below to read how he proposes to prioritze bolstering enforcement mechanisms regarding challenges to the rule of law.




This years second place winners Axl Szyszko and Zia-Melchior Hoseini submitted a intriguing policy proposal on how to strengthen European security and unity in a scenario after Russian aggression towards Ukraine. Click below to read how they propose that a bottom-up approach that puts communities at the forefront of policy making constiutes a holistic solution.




We are excited to announce our first place, the remarkable winning paper by Casper Plantinga and Karlo Welch! Their policy proposal is taking an insightful approach to addressing ways in which the EU can increase its consistency both with member states and in external treaties. In their proposal, that convinced us and the judges, the winners share how the EU can approach future resource security and the associated shifts within the EU’s sphere of influence.
